No diving qualification? Our nationally trained and qualified instructors will teach you to dive following the BSAC training syllabus.

We charge £212 for new members with no qualifications - this covers:
• Pool training (as long as it takes you to be proficient in basic diving skills - frequently 6 sessions)
• The loan of a cylinder, stab jacket and regulator for the duration of your initial training
• A Diving manual and Qualifications Record book, and all training notes
• One year's membership of BSAC (provides third party insurance and monthly Dive magazine)
• One year's membership of Sheffield branch
• Use of the pool for swimming and training
• Use of Club Boat (just share usage costs)

The initial BSAC diving qualification is called Ocean Diver. You can gain an overview of what is involved here

Your second year's membership is £157 - and you can take your training as far as you want within this cost. We would like all members to progress at least as far as Sports Diver, which includes rescue training.

You will also be required to certify that you are medically fit for diving.
We recommend trainees buy their own masks, fins and snorkels (we will advise you of the best equipment to buy).
You will also need to hire or buy a wet-suit or dry-suit for open water dives, and there will be costs associated with these dives.

There are several levels of qualification, from beginner through to nationally qualified instructor. Instructor qualifications are examined and awarded at a national level, and can be gained in addition to the BSAC diving grades.

There are also many skill development courses (SDC's) that are organised on a regional basis.

If you have trained with another diver training agency, it's easy to continue and progress your experience with a BSAC Club Branch. See what's involved
